Winter Ng and Sophia Lee immigrated to Canada from Hong Kong in 1992. They were physiotherapists that worked in senior homes and nursing homes. They save a high percentage of their income and invested in the stock market and mutual fund as their retirement plan. However the 2000 and 2009 market crashes made them lost their faith in stock market investment. They started looking into real estate investment since 2010. After joining REIN and learned from the experts, they bought their first investment property in 2011. They became members of Durham REI and continued to purchase 2-3 properties per year focusing on legal 2-unit houses in Durham. The passive income generated by these properties allow them to retire comfortably now.
